As we draw closer to Christmas there is a number of one off events that volunteers can become involved in.
The following events are coming up and need your help urgently:

Just enjoy being involved in community events, or have an interest in Art & Craft, Cattle, Pets, Cookery, Poultry, Pigeons, Photography, Recycling and Woodwork then why not offer your assistance to the Albury Show and become part of the team that has kept the Albury Show running for the last "150" years. The Show Society needs volunteers to help with stewarding of events, the placement of fixtures, furniture, and signage. Contact us today for further information.
17th & 18th November at La Trobe University Campus Beechworth.
Direct Care Assistant volunteers are needed to run the alternative program for Down syndrome children aged 0-8 years, 8-6years and 16years & over. I f you have a caring, fun loving nature then please help.
Possess a sense of humour, enjoy doing bloke stuff, and why not volunteer to drive a bus, car licence only required for a group of men with disabilities. The age group is 35 - 65 years and is every second Thursday 10am 4pm. The bus is located in Holbrook and the region covered is Holbrook, Henty, Culcairn and Yerong Creek.

Driving/Driver Assistant
Local show to be held at the end of October urgently requires your help. Volunteers required to assist with the setting up and dismantling of signage and placement of furniture. Volunteer positions also available to assist as steward of various exhibitions.
The family conference will be held in Beechworth the weekend of 17th & 18th November at La Trobe University Campus.
60 volunteers required as Direct Care assistants to assist with various activities dependant on age group ( 0-9years, 10-16years, 17years+) guided by Team Leaders and staff to work with people with a disability.
Caring, fun loving, good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team. 8am - 6 pm Saturday, Sunday 8am - 2pm, lunch will be provided for volunteers on the Saturday.
An Albury based Day Club requires a Fitness/exercise assistant 2.5 hours per week. Program is run on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, volunteer day negotiable.
Possess a caring, cheerful, happy outgoing nature? Then why not join the other ladies who volunteer two hours a week, Monday and Friday arranging flowers for hospital patients.
Can you work unsupervised? A position as Gardener is available at a Thurgoona Respite facility, the hours are flexible, and duties include weeding, mowing and garden edging.
Interested in becoming a mentor/friend/advocate for person with a disability, you will be matched up based on interests, no personal care required. Albury, Wodonga or Wangaratta locations.
Can't commit to regular volunteering, then put you name down for one off event volunteering. The local communities host lots of annual events that require volunteers, become a helper in your community today.
Volunteers needed for organisations located in Beechworth, administration assistant and information officer positions available.
Interested in developing some new skills? Then attend the Literacy training course to be held in Albury September 17th to 20th. The training course will provide volunteers with a basic understanding of literacy and one on one teaching, so as to enable them to assist students who are falling behind in reading and literacy in our local schools.
Are you friendly, trustworthy and interested in supporting a local organization, why not utilize your skills in coordinating, marketing and obtaining sponsorships, etc? This volunteer position is located in the friendly town of Yackandandah.
A Lavington based day club for aged persons with dementia, require caring volunteers to help the staff with the picking up of residents from the community and to assist with activities. Skills required are, Dementia awareness/ wheelchair use. The program is run Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am to 3.30pm.
Wodonga based community organisation require a skilled computer person to install and maintain computers on loan to families. A good knowledge of computers, trustworthy and reliability are the key attributes required.
Do you possess the ability to sing in tune and have a sense of rhythm, why not join a group of entertainers that provide entertainment for age care facilities around the area? Key attributes are cheerful disposition, good sense of humour and enjoyment from working with older people. Rehearsals are held Thursdays 3.30pm -5.30pm.
