This workshop is designed for all workers in Health and Community Services areas who wish to gain an understanding of culture, language and religion and the barriers and issues involved when working with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
The workshop will provide participants with the knowledge required when working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
The workshop will cover the following topics:
- cross-cultural communication
- cultural competency
- working with interpreters and translators.
The outcomes of the workshop will include:
- Improved communication skills through working with interpreters and translators
- How to meet the needs of culturally diverse clients
- Culturally competent service delivery.
Participants will also be provided with information and resources including Language Service Toolkit and Albury Wodonga CALD Resource and Information Tool.
