Topics include: Attitudes of ageing, dementia awareness, sensory loss and communication.
The topics will include types of disabilities, epilepsy, communication, managing behaviour and what to expect when volunteering in Disability Services.
Provides volunteers with an opportunity to understand and be informed of their OH & S responsibilities whilst volunteering in community based organisations.
This interactive training session will explore communication as a process of exchange, enabling both volunteers and managers of volunteers to bring new ideas and methods to their work. Topics such as what hinders and what helps, empathy, assertiveness and effective listening will be covered.
This session explores the needs of children and young people in our region. You will learn more about their experiences and their dreams and visions for the future. You will improve your communication skills and knowledge about the issues and challenges young people face.
An interactive training session involving a series of concurrent workshops to assist people considering volunteering. Sessions will include information about local services and the volunteering opportunities they offer. Topics such as the benefits of volunteering, the rights and responsibilities of volunteers and duty of care, will be covered.
This interactive training session will assist your volunteers to develop further their skills in working with older people. Participants will come away with a deeper understanding of dementia and sensory loss. We will also cover communication skills and a session on the issues and challenges that older people face
This workshop will help you to develop strategies to enable your volunteers to offer their best including their ideas, expectations and what helps them to feel valued. We will explore interview techniques to assist you to make the best placement, to understand various motivators and gain insight to the skill development and training needs of your current and new volunteers.
