Working with older people

Topics include: attitudes of ageing, dementia awareness, sensory loss and communication.

Disability services

Topics include: types of disabilities, epilepsy, communication, and what to expect when volunteering in disability services.

O H & S induction for volunteers

Provides volunteers with an opportunity to understand and be informed of their Occupational Health and Safety responsibilities whilst volunteering in community based organisations.

Communicating confidently

This interactive training session will explore communication as a process of exchange, enabling both volunteers and managers of volunteers to bring new ideas and methods to their work. Topics such as what hinders and what helps, empathy, assertiveness and effective listening will be covered.

Volunteering opportunities with children and young people

This session explores the needs of children and young people in our region. You will learn more about their experiences and their dreams and visions for the future. You will improve your communication skills and knowledge about the issues and challenges young people face.

Volunteering — A pathway to the future

An interactive training session involving a series of concurrent workshops to assist people considering volunteering. Sessions will include information about local services and the volunteering opportunities they offer. Topics such as the benefits of volunteering, the rights and responsibilities of volunteers and duty of care, will be covered.
