Gardener

Duties include mowing, pruning, general gardening and assisting with a vegetable garden.

Workshop facilitator

Trained person experienced with woodwork, metalwork tools the ability to communicate well with older men essential. Volunteer duties include keeping workshop in a tidy condition, ensure equipment is safe and in good working condition. Find and develop projects for members, able to instruct and show members how to operate equipment and tools safely and correctly. Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9am-12noon.

Bus drivers (LR licence)

To pick up residents to attend social clubs.

Driving mentors

To assist young people and refugees in obtaining their probationary licence. Mentors need to be encouraging, supportive, tolerant and respectful. Must be 25 years and over and hold a full drivers licence. Training may apply.

Swimming lesson assistant

To assist the instructor with swim lessons for primary school children. Weekdays 4 pm – 6 pm, weekends 9.30 am -12 pm.

Website assistant

Reasonable computer skills are an advantage. Web editing software skills are NOT required, training will be provided. Duties include liaison with Landcare Community by email/phone. Collate listings and group information. Add and edit group content, assist groups to update their online content.

Mapping assistant

Will be helping Landcare groups to collate historic information on environmental works they have completed, to modernise their reporting and recognition of achievements. Office based position hours, flexible to suit volunteer. Skills in the use of GIS software (ArcGIS and related) and good general computer skills, training provided.

Family support (refugees)

Assist in settling refugees, individuals and families into the Albury Wodonga area. Skills required: empathy, an interest in other cultures and a willingness to help others.

Emergency relief/food sorter

Volunteers are needed daily from 11.30 am until 1.00 pm you will need to be reasonably fit as this work involves bending and lifting. Training provided.

Support worker

To assist the instructor in program delivery and provide support to adults with disabilities. To participate in a team of professionals ensuring participants maximise their opportunities and potentials. Albury Wodonga area.

Computer tutor

To teach basic computer skills e.g. internet, email, and basic word skills. Albury and Wodonga areas.

Cook

An organisation based in Albury/Wodonga requires a cook to plan menus meeting nutritional and dietry requirements, shopping, lead a team, prepare and serve meals.

Assistant cook

An assistant cook is required in the Albury/Wodonga area. Table preparation and serving of meals is required.

Day care assistant

A Lavington based day club for aged persons with dementia, require caring volunteers to help the staff with the picking up of residents from the community and to assist with activities. Skills required are, Dementia awareness/ wheelchair use. The program is run Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am to 3.30pm.

Friendly visitor

Wodonga, Albury and Lavington aged care facilities are looking for friendly people to visit residents and become involved in activities and/or outings. People with other language skills would be a bonus.

Drivers

Albury and Wodonga organisations urgently require drivers for their community cars service. Friendly, patient manner required.

Recreation/sports venue volunteers

An Albury based organisation requires volunteers to assist with the day to day running of its venue and they are prepared to train the right people. Come join our team. Voluntary positions available: Cleaners, canteen, and event volunteers.

Retail sales

Albury Wodonga based organisation requires assistants for sorting, sales and presentation work.

Environment

Environmental officer, times are negotiable according to works calendar. Location is Wodonga and surrounding district.

Telephone support program

Volunteer from your own home, telephone daily between 8am-9am to check on individual’s well-being. The roster is 1 month on, 1 month off.

Day programs

Become a volunteer with an organisation located in Lavington. Patience and kindness are the skills required. Assist with craft activities, music, or as a friendly visitor. These are some of the ways to become involved.

Animal foster care

Ability and empathy to care for a dog for up to 12 weeks, escape proof yard required. Support given by coordinator and assistant, food and kennel supplied.

Surrender/Welfare

Phone operator volunteer, rotating 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. Skills required are tact and diplomacy, good customer relations, level headed, responsible, polite, and professional. Training provided.
